THE STUDIO:
Lorie's private studio is located in her home. It includes a Roland RM700 digital piano and many state of the art teaching activities.
THE PIANO(s): After teaching on a Baldwin acoustic piano for 15 years, Lorie's 'piano of choice' for teaching is now a Roland RM700 digital piano. She was taught with Roland Pianos since 2000 and has never looked back! It has weighted keys and is of tremendous value during lessons. During the 'duet and ensemble' year (see curriculum), 3 Yamaha keyboards join the room for group instruction. Parents are always welcome to join us for every lesson. Here are a few of the reasons, I went 'digital'. Students can: * Practice scales to a drum beat - or a metronome - using one of hundreds of sounds for the scale itself. * Record themselves and listen back to how they "really" play a piece * Play along with a pre-recorded accompaniment - teaching skills necessary to accompany a vocalist or instrumentalist (something an acoustic piano just can't do) * Create original compositions and record them on the piano, which can then be burned to a CD or put on the internet.
As a side note, Roland Pianos has been an incredible company to work with. Their customer service department has always gone above and beyond my expectations. I love their pianos and I would recommend them to anyone! "Thank you for being such a great piano teacher to Kelly. She really loves to play and that is because you are encouraging!" --P. Martin
